We're exited to bring the Model Designer module to the dental community. We've been using Blender for everything dental, and so can you!
Why Blender? Well for a start, it's free to download and is entirely open source software, which means it removes the costly yearly licence fees associated with most other dental 3D programs. If you are using Meshmixer or Exocad, you should check out how Blenderfordental compares.
It's taken four years of hard work for programmers and developers to launch the latest version of Blender, which is Blender 2.8. We believe, it's the world's most sophisticated 3D software - but like any new software, there's a steep learning curve in order to get the best out of the program. It can seem a little overwhelming to begin with - and this is where Blenderfordental fits in.
We've teamed up with some clever computer & dental geeks, including Mike and Wolfgang, to create Blenderfordental which is the missing link which turns Blender software into dental software. Blenderfordental introduces a customised dental toolbar into the Blender window, meaning every 3D tool you need is at your fingertips. Each module is available separately for a low once off fee.
We have endeavoured to make Blender as simple as possible, and of course, specific for dentistry. Each module comes with a specially programmed menu structure, to make dental models, or crowns or orthodontics. To date, only the dental model module and gum module has been released. The first module you will need is the Model Designer module. This will get you up and running and forms the basis for the skills and tools needed in future modules. Each module is accompanied by comprehensive tutorials to take you through the process step by step.
In no time at all, you'll be ready to start designing your own 3D dental models ready for print ..... all you need is an stl or obj scan file and a little time to follow the tutorial. Enjoy!
